“Federal
Government procurement regulations specify a portion procurements be
set-aside for small and disadvantaged businesses. Yet many qualified
small businesses participate in programs to win these set-asides but
never win a Prime contract.”
This one-day workshop, presented by an expert
with over 20 years of experience regarding programs related to small and
disadvantaged business utilization, highlights the information that small
and large businesses, and government contracting officers and purchasing
agents, need to understand and make best use of the many Federal
government small business programs.
Summary:
The
workshop discusses criteria, eligibility, court decisions, program
"truths" and "myths," and tips and clues for success
using small business and set-aside programs. Every large and small
business needs at least one person “expert” in these
programs. Large firms learn why teaming or partnering with small and
set-aside businesses is beneficial, and how it increases the chance of
winning because of Government evaluation credits. Small businesses learn
how the programs work and the benefits derived through limiting
competition and expanding opportunities. Veteran and Service Disabled
Veteran-Owned Business programs, the HUB Zone program, and contracting
and subcontracting requirements are highlighted. The workshop is

team, developing a proposal, preparing requests for proposals that have a
Small Business requirement, and managing those programs after award.
