Your company successfully invested a great deal of time, effort and money to win the major contracts which have become your firm’s “Crown Jewels”. During the duration of the jewel contracts your managers and technical staff have been focused on providing outstanding services and solutions while maximizing the value of the work to all parties. Everyone especially your competition knows that the recompete is “out there”. There is usually a skeletal plan for winning the recompete but the urgencies of day-to-day business often delay the important tactics needed to solidify your win.

Many companies fall short in the execution of a well-planned, organized recompete strategy. The recompete is not only an opportunity to continue the work, it is an opportunity to mold the procurement so your firm will win, at more favorable rates and performing the work in a manner that is of the greatest benefit to your company and client alike. It takes time to mold the procurement, establish all of the contacts and touch points, and to understand and influence the competitive aspects of a procurement. As an incumbent you have the enviable advantage of having continuous access to your client. They can watch you perform and delight them every day. However, at the same time you are working the recompete you have to continue the work in an excellent fashion. This is analogous to changing the tires on a race car without the ability to stop. Successful recompetes are worked with a time line and specific set of tasks. The following is a synopsis of the services we have provided to leading companies in the industry for their successful recompete efforts.

  1. Capture Support

Advantage Consulting has a network of over 150 independent contractors and several other consulting companies who provide niche services and support for the Capture process.

a.       Agency/Organizational Understanding. We will identify a range of consultants with experience and insight relevant to your contract. A brief bio of each of these is provided for your review to help you fill out your team. These people are available to you for capture support, competitive intelligence, and during the proposal phase and review phases of your proposal.

b.       Competitive Intelligence Services. We are prepared to monitor the activities of both the government and potential competitors through third parties. In addition, we will show you how to organize and monitor your own incumbent intelligence network.

c.       Competitive Cost Analysis. We are prepared to provide insight into the cost structure of selected competitors.

d.       Teaming Support. With our insight into the client and our contacts in over 1,000 government contractors we are prepared to nominate teammates for your consideration that in the view of the client will help you win.

e.       Capture Team Training. We have an eight hour workshop designed to walk a company through the steps of developing and operating a winning Capture Program for a specific business opportunity.

f.         Supporting Market Research. We have a staff of market research personnel to include a private investigation firm that conducts business-related investigations at your disposal.

  1. Proposal Support

We provide customized proposal support for our clients. We provide those people and services you need to augment your in-house proposal staff and technical personnel. We do not run the proposal for you unless that is what you want us to do. Instead, we prefer working with you and supporting you in your proposal effort.

a.       Proposal Management. We will identify, and provide you biographies, for a range of proposal manager candidates who have experience relevant to your recompete.

b.       Technical Writing Support. We will identify technical writers with experience relevant to your recompete.

c.       Graphics and Administrative Support. We have several experts who are available to us on very short notice.

d.       Proposal Training. We offer a just-in-time workshop for your proposal writers that teach them how to write winning answers to the government’s requirements.

e.       Orals. If the government decides to us an Oral presentation on this proposal we have excellent orals coaches available to assist in the design, preparation, and delivery of your proposal.

f.         Orals Training. We also offer an eight hour Orals Workshop to prepare your orals team to win.

g.       Team Reviews. With our cadre of Agency knowledgeable consultants we are prepared to provide impartial and expert analysis of your draft and final proposal.

  1. Follow On Business Development Support and Training

Often winning the recompete is not a complete assurance of work. In today’s contracting environment winning the contract is often only the start. You now have to win the work. It is our experience that most, if not all of the work will be decided within the first six to twelve months of this five year contract. That means the winners have to hit the ground running with a business development plan and trained personnel.

a.       Business Development Planning. We can assist you in developing a business development plan for this client and contract.

b.       Business Development Training. We can provide your line management and technical staff the training necessary for them to identify and work with your professional business development staff capturing work on this contract.

  1. Exclusive Support

It is Advantage Consulting’s policy to support only one company or team of companies on any specific procurement. That means we cannot help one company with their Capture effort and then help another company write their proposal. We want to start working with your team early and stay with you through the process as you need us. Each contract is unique and our support is tailored, with you, to your individual recompete.

  1. Cost

The minimum cost of our Must-Win recompete services is $28,000 to be used against billable services. The initial retainer of $10,000 assures your firm of our availability and, of course, commits us to your team and prohibits us from supporting any other company on the same procurement. We also use the retainer when we need to “bind” a specific consultant to the project. In every circumstance the actual cost is determined by which services you choose to use and the extent of those services. Our goal is for you to use the retainer in full.
